Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, the OTA will provide quality school-based occupational therapy services. The OTA will assist the Occupational
Therapist on a day-to-day basis and will contribute to developing treatment services to improve identified areas of function as they relate to students' educational needs. The OTA will perform services in accordance with IEP goals and objectives and will collaborate with all multidisciplinary team members.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Occupational Therapist with data collection and various assessment instruments.
- Assists the Occupational Therapist with the development of treatment goals for students.
- Implements intervention plans using tools and materials as outlined by the Occupational Therapist.
- Communicates effectively to parents, teachers, and others.
- Maintains a working knowledge of IDEA, Article 7, the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, and the requirements and implications of each regarding individual students.
- Provides training or recommendations to school personnel in accordance with the IEP and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
- Attends case conferences as appropriate to discuss student progress.
- Maintains a record of student services with appropriate documentation.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
